We are very proud to announce that Polo For Heart 2009 raised $138,000 for Heart & Stroke related charities. We were able to give $69,000 to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, and $69,000 to the Cardiac Care Centre at Southlake Regional Hospital.
The Heart & Stroke Foundation will once again direct their funds to the Chase McEachern Tribute Fund. This fund enables the Heart & Stroke Foundation to put Automatic External Defibrillators (AED'S) in schools and community centres across Ontario.
Southlake Regional Foundation will direct their funds to improving the Cardiac Care centre at Southlake Hospital, in Newmarket. This centre is currently the fourth largest and busiest Cardiac Care centre in Ontario, and is performing internationally recognised life-saving procedures to patients from all over York Region.

Good afternoon Polo for Heart Executive Committee,
I wanted to share some wonderful news with you regarding the York Region Heart Alive Public Access Defibrillation Program.
Last night, just after 9pm, an employee of the Georgina Civic Centre in Keswick came to the aid of a 60 year old male. 9-1-1 was called, CPR started and the AED unit applied. One shock was delivered and when Paramedics arrived on scene the patient was conscious and alert. He was transported to hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
The AED unit, along with associated training was funded by the generous donation from PACE Polo for Heart, the Al Palladini "Legacy for Life" and Transamerica Life. This now brings the total of lives saved to 17 - incredible, especially for the family, friends and community of the life saved.
On behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, thank you for your outstanding support of this program. Your hard work and commitment is making the most significant difference of all, it is saving lives.
