CONTESTS

The Perfect Polo Picnic Contest

Bringing a picnic to polo is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the event.  Over the years at Polo For Heart our guests have gone above and beyond the normal picnic protocol, coming up with beautifully dressed tables and themed picnics.   We've had elegant, fun and sometimes humorous picnics pop up around the grounds, so a few years back we decided to start the "perfect polo picnic contest".  This contest is judged on Saturday and Sunday, with a Polo For Heart prize pack awarded to the judge's favorite picnic.  So get your thinking cap on and plan what you think would be the perfect polo picnic.   No registration is required for this contest.  All picnics at the event will be judged.

The Best Hat Contest

This is another annual tradition at Polo For Heart, and judging's take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Because you're outdoors, wearing a hat makes perfect sense, so why not choose a hat that might turn some heads - including the judges head!  No registration is required for this contest, everyone wearing a hat will be judged.  The judges favorite hat will win a Polo For Heart prize pack.

POSTER CONTEST

Attention all amateur & aspiring Artists....
June 19, 20, 21, 2009 marks Polo For Heart’s 30th Anniversary.  This three day polo festival in Richmond Hill attracts thousands of spectators and corporate sponsors. Polo For Heart is a unique and exciting charity event, featuring world-class polo games played daily.  Besides the action on the field, guests to the event can browse the boutiques and silent auction tents, watch half-time entertainment shows, participate in the champagne divot stomp, enjoy a catered gourmet lunch or bring their own picnic and dine field-side.  Proceeds raised from the event go to the defibrillator program at the Heart & Stroke Foundation and to the Cardiac Care centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

We want you to help us to create a special edition 30th Anniversary Poster to mark this monumental year!
We invite students in grades 9 through 12, as well as all adult amateur artists, to enter their artwork in the Polo For Heart poster contest.  Artists may use water color, oil/ acrylic paint, or pastels to create their own interpretation of what Polo For Heart is all about.  Their artwork should be on white paper, and no larger than 15” x 20”.  Polo For Heart is a multi-faceted event, and there are thousands of images that are associated with it, so we invite artists to use their creativity and imagination to produce something that would be a good representation to put on a poster for Polo For Heart.  To get a glimpse of last year’s event please check out the online photo gallery at www.poloforheart.org.

Your artwork could be the official Polo For Heart Poster....
Submissions from each division (grade 9, 10, 11, 12 & amateur adult artists) will be judged, with ribbons given out to the first, second and third place winners of each division.  The top three entries in each division will be displayed in the Art Walk at Polo For Heart, and will be featured in Mallet Magazine.  All artists who submit an entry to the Polo For Heart poster contest will receive a complimentary ticket to the event.

The judges will also select one piece of artwork which will be reproduced as the official Polo For Heart 30th Anniversary poster, and will be sold at the event.   The winning piece and artist will be featured in Mallet Magazine, and the winning artist will receive a Polo For Heart prize pack, six complimentary tickets to the event, and a one-day Introduction To Polo Clinic at the Toronto Polo Club.

Submissions to the Polo For Heart poster contest must be sent in by April 30th 2009, along with the accompanying submission form (see next page).  We thank you for your support, and look forward to seeing your talent!
